The Village Project

We honor the market as a sacred circle, where spirit,  culture, craft and community converge. In the spirit of Sankofa, we return to what sustained us; in the principle of Ujamaa and the ethic of Ubuntu, we lift as we climb.

Founded by Rev. Dr. Rhonda James-Jones in 2018, the Village Project gathered more than twenty artisans and micro-businesses, giving our people a dignified space to market handmade goods, circulate dollars within the community, and apprentice the next generation.  It was a place of radical hospitality and spiritual connection that informed our communal witness of what happens when we honor our spirituality, traditions, artistry, and practice Ujamaa and Imani.

The Village Project is a living practice of economic justice, cultural memory, and communal joy. This marketplace is ministry, resourcing our spirits, homes, and community and inviting us to engaging in reciprocity for all we are to and for each other.
