About
SWDG School of Sekhmet: The Calabash of the Called. Foundations of Pastoral Spiritual Care: The Art of Spiritual Midwifery About This Program: Step out of the heavy armor of the "fixer" and into the sacred, ancestral calling of the Spiritual Midwife. In a world actively navigating systemic weather and historical trauma, traditional "neck-up" pastoral care is no longer enough. Foundations of Pastoral Spiritual Care: The Art of Spiritual Midwifery is an 8-week, trauma-informed journey designed to equip ministers, caregivers, and community healers to hold space for deep spiritual and somatic labor. Grounded in Womanist theology, Indigenous wisdom, and clinical awareness, this program will teach you how to shift the paradigm of pastoral referral from a cold "hand-off" to a devoted "helping hand" alongside clinical providers. What You Will Experience: The Somatic Verbatim: Learn to listen beyond words to recognize and soothe trauma trapped in the physical tissue. Systemic Awareness: Tear the roof off of systemic barriers and dismantle heavy yoke personas. The Ubuntu Circles (Discussion): Move beyond dry academic discussion boards into communal, village-centered processing around the fire. The Birthing Room: Culminate your journey with a live practicum, practicing real-time crisis triage and the holy art of holding space. It is time to catch the new life.
